I gotta ask, why not? What's magical (or spiteful) about working on a Savage 99? No different than any other lever action, and easier than most.

My issue with modern Savage firearms stem mainly from design elements I just don't agree with.

Gotcha. I gotta remember that in this day and age most folks are referring to 110's and all their iterations when they say Savage, when my mind automatically thinks 99.
