About 50 miles, thankfully the river calmed a bit toward the end where it flowed out of the mountains and into some tundra flats before it hit the Yukon. Both the grey and blue yaks were loaded equally. We were set up for 17 days on supplies so we were heavy from the start but heavier after the caribou went on board.

Those are like 10.8 Dagger Bayou lake boats. Never kayaked prior to that...

Always loved the lines and look of those old Outrages. Beautiful boat.

I have a good buddy who's a fishing/duck hunting guide, i can go to his house and jump in which ever boat he's not using and go fish or hunt. I in return take care of him and his friends on flooring stuff. Works out pretty good. I do fill the boat up with fuel when I'm done.

Thanks.

It is on a trailer.

Following up on it now.

Yep, and two of the best type of friends.
One lets a buddy use his boat,
The other shows his appreciation.

Mike,

I was told "make an offer" on one of these the other week. 7hp Evinrude two-stroke if I remember right.

Seems like a good canal boat.

I'd definitely consider it. These are superb boats for Florida. They make them up in Titusville.

Now THAT will tote the mail..............

Was a passenger in one that had a 300 ProMax. 102 mph on the Garmin GPS....

Guy I bought it from was the original owner and told me the dealer ran it at 93 when new and near sea level. Our altitude here is around 3200 and it tops out at 85 for me (225 ProMax). I really don't care much about speed anymore, but the reason they run like they do is the efficiency of the hull with very low drag which translates to low fuel consumption. It burns half the fuel of similar boats I've had and I have to really try to burn a tank of fuel in a day.

When my wife and I married, we decided to get a boat for fishing. What I had in mind was a 16-foot aluminum boat with a 9.9 horse outboard that we could get into tight places and catch fish. We ended up with this:

[Linked Image]

It's a 1990 Sea Ray 180 Bowrider with a Mercury 135 horse. It'll run 50 mph with both of us in it, trimmed just so. I think we've had it for over 16 years and all I've ever had to do to it is change the impeller a number of times, replace a switchbox (due to my own negligence), thermostats, and stuff like that. I DID have to do the deck a couple of times, but the second time it has held up for the last twelve years just fine.

It doesn't do anything particularly well, but it will do a passable job of anything we care to do with it. We used to pull a tube with it, but these days we just fish.

This 25' GW Sailfish with twin 200 Yamahas went down the road last year leaving me with 4 much smaller boats. Next offshore capable rig will be a 21' or 23' cc on a trailer for running and gunning from RI to ME.
