alaska_lanche would you share your load data for your 210 Scirocco getting 2800? I've got a 18" and with sciroccos I'm running 2620, I'd like to be able to squeeze a little more speed out of it.

It was 2800 fps when it was a 21" barrel. Now that its a 16.5" barrel i'm at 2690 fps. I would start with 58 grains of RL-17 and slowly work up and see where pressure happens back off and find accuracy.

My AI version was gifted from a late relative. In a Zastava Mk X action. Feeds & shoots fine. Brass has long life.

338-06 when it had the 21" barrel with the 3-9 SWFA on it right at 6.75 pounds:

Cut down to 16.5" and suppressed its right at 7.25 pounds:

I took my same load that I had before with the 21" barrel that had 210 Siroccos just bit over 2800 fps and that same load now averages just under 2700 fps (2690 fps to be exact).

Also worked up 230 eldx in it and and found an accuracy node at 2575 fps. Now to pick which bullet I want to use......

I realize the shorty barrel rifles are for everyone but I'll give up FPS for handiness or ability to suppress and not have a super long barrel just so I can toy with loads in the yard.

That's a nice rifle. How do you like that SWFA compared to the LRHS?

That is about right where I am at with with my two 338-06's. One is 23" and the other is 22". The 22" does run 20-40fps slower.

I really like both scopes. However given this rifles use I don't need the extra 3X on the magnification or the parallax adjustment. Having a true zero stop rather than shims is nice as is slightly better glass as well as a capped windage. But a couple wraps of electrical tape on the windage knob and the shims and it's fine and I can do without the extra 1/3 of a pound as well. Both are great scopes no doubt but I believe I am down to almost all SWFA on most of my stuff now just the price/value ratio is so high for me and I don't need uber glass for my uses so I'm good with it.

I appreciate the insight, I have a two of the LRHS scopes. They're quiet nice but a bit hefty. I'll pick up a SWFA when they have the annual sale to give it a try. I wouldn't mind sheding a bit of weight.
