I know there is a simple solution to this, but I need some help in figuring it all out. I have a fiberglass stock I sent to Rick Bin for painting. I had bought the gun used and when breaking ti down did not notice that one of the butt pad screws had been stripped. I am now looking for a way to fill teh hole, drill it out and thread the screw back in. I have thought about glueing or epoxy, but do not want to commit to never removing the butt pad or possibly damaging teh stock while trying to remove a screw.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I would drill out the hole to some diameter that will accept a 3/8 inch dia wood dowel. Glue the dowel in with epoxy, tap drill and then put the butt plate screw in.
If God wanted you to walk and carry things on your back, He would not have invented stirrups and pack saddles

Fill the old hole with JB weld-grease your screw lightly and re-install screw. When it dries it is easily removed and will tighten when re-installed.powdr

powdr's plan is one step, perfectly centered and aligned. The filler material is epoxy in a "plastic" stock so there will be no concerns about the dowell splitting because it has no end grain being tapped...
Nothing wrong with saddlesore's plan except it takes longer and leaves open a lot more chance at error... art

i believe I would fill and drill and tap the epoxy. I would try a JB weld brand. Devcon makes some wonderful products that are hard to find on the retail market.

I wouldjustuse clear box tape to make a form where i needed the repair then fill with acuraglass then let dry then put butplate back on.
It is better to have it and not need it , than to need it and not have it ( by master gunsmith & very wise friend )
