There was a discussion about shimming the bolt on Ruger Hawkeyes for accuracy purposes but I can't find the discussion and evidently don't know the right words to search for. Does anyone have a link or knowledge of this? thanks.

I suppose you mean tightening the bolt in the receiver bore, at the rear bridge. In my view, the best way to do this is by the use of dovetailed inserts in the bolt body. These are then turned to fit the bore of the receiver. I use this system effectively on numerous actions. GD
