Looking for a new one. Any recommendations, good or bad? Mine is old, spring loaded, and no longer accurate. Are the digital models more accurate? thanks for any input!

I use a digital small fish scale. Seems to be more accurate, when compared with spring types that I have used!

Any model, set aside an hour or so and use it until you get the same reading three times in a row.

There's an easy way to check any of them for "accuracy": Rig a wire holder out of a typical steel clothes-hanger, and weigh a Ziploc bag of bullets....
My Timney spring model (which is sold by various other companies under their brand-name) checks out very well.

Technique is very important and it's only a unit of measure as to what feels right. The number really doesn't matter.

I have a set of steel weights I have used for several years. Never, not once, lost calibration. Charlie

I have a Brownells mechanical/spring model and a newer Lyman digital. They both seem to work pretty well. Occasionally I recalibrate the Brownells scale with small weights.

Never bothered to buy one. I hang a plastic bottle and trickle shot into it then weigh it on a digital scale. If done correctly it is accurate and repeatable.

Never, not once, lost calibration. Charlie Was wondering if anyone else used a wire rig and weight. SS tig rod and a peanut can work well with fishing sinkers, bullets and split shot if you’re really wanting fine detail. Since the scale is on the bench it seemed unnecessary to buy another one for the few times an actual number is needed.
I used to only shoot shotguns and rimfires, then I made the mistake of getting a subscription to handloader.......

Southtexas: I have been using my Schrader Trigger Pull Gauge for over half a century now and it is as accurate now as it was back in 1970! It was "Made in the United States of America" (Brooklyn, New York in fact!) and is Model #4556. If you run across one of these, on the used market, BUY IT! I wish I could give you my recommendations on a newer model but mine has worked so well, for me, for so long I can't. Best of luck with whichever you choose. Hold into the wind VarmintGuy
