I purchased a model 8 remington. in 30cal. With the rarity of ammunition I bought dies and a couple boxes of old ammo on gun broker. The accuracy was great(2" groups 50 yds. open sights) with the old stuff. Primers and case head looked good. But 7 of 40 rounds split in the neck, only being fired the one time. Not sure of the age of the ammo but the box sticker said it originally sold for $5.00 per box. Is this due to the age of the brass? Should I expect short life from the rest of it? Or is there a more serious problem to look for? Thanks for any info you may have. Anyone having a connection to .30 rem. brass please let me know.
