Part of the beauty of the A-10 is logistics. With its high slung engines, it can operate on crappy runway. The rest of the CAS fleet, not so much. Seeing as how we generally go to war in 5hitholes, we better keep them. Otherwise, get used to only getting your CAS from carriers and first world bases with pristine pavement. Hell, the F-35 can't do a VTOL without tearing up concrete. It's a nice concept, but you do need to land somewhere. Amateurs talk tactics, professionals talk logistics.
