Would anyone mind running 7mm-08 for me?
I have a Rem R-25 in 7mm-08. Most of the load data that I have found is hot on slower powders and long barrels. I'm pretty certain slow powders aren't going to cut it. I've been having a hard time deciding where to begin with powders simply due to lack of information using a 20" gas gun. I am looking for a list of the top 20-25 powders with velocity, pressure, muzzle pressure, case fill, and burn percentage. That should give me an idea of a few available powders and how they might perform in my application.
Usual range temp is about 85*f and altitude is 860'.
I plan to load 3 bullets at this point:
120gr TTSX
130gr Speer BTSP
162gr Amax
I have these powders on hand from other projects:
IMR 4895
IMR 4064
IMR 4166
Varget
H4895
8208 XBR
RL15
RL17
PowerPro 2000MR
Win 748
I'm guessing the answer will be in 4064, 4895, Varget, or RL15.
I would really appreciate comments from anyone actually loading a 7mm-08 AR. However, all sage advice is absolutely welcome as well.
Although velocity isn't everything, it would be nice to know which powders excel in the shorter barrel and which do not. I have seen a quickload table that had exactly the info I'm looking for, but it was for a different caliber and barrel length.
