I have heard from many experienced recreational crabbers that the round traps are better. Their theory is that with the square traps a crab can be crawling along the perimeter (looking to get at the bait) and when they come to a corner they just keep going. FWIW.
It is a beautiful area, I look out at it from my kitchen and just as it gets light it is pretty spectacular.
