Wait a minute. I think they're saying country music is like disco...a "genre", and really has nothing to do with being from the country. Like the Dixie Chicks.
I think personal interpretations vary wildly of what anything "is" when it comes to music. Obviously being FROM the country is not a pre-req to some. Only what it sounds like.
Then again, what is "country" as far as where one is from or lives?
