Deprime the piece of 300 Savage brass.

Place the mouth of the 40 case over the neck of the 300 case, then measure the whole thing case head to case head in your calipers.

Now size the 300 brass.

Put on the 40 case again and remeasure.

The difference between the two measurements is the amount of shoulder movement for the 300 case.
