Speaker comparisons back in the day never made me go for Bose.My old Infinity speakers finally croaked though and I recently replaced them with some cheap ($30) Bose off Craigslist.
I'm happy with them but for big $ and critical listening I'd be looking for something else.
That's what piqued my interest in this thread. My old '92 kickass infinities died and they need to be replaced. Haven't been impressed with the box store speakers I've found at Best B.
I've had my Infinities rebuilt twice. Guy at the local Audio shop says Infinity made some of the best speaker boxes/case's.
I've got Bose outside mounted to my house under a porch roof. 15 years now and they still sound great. Bought the Bose 'solo' for one of our TV's last year, $199. Very happy with it.
