I was looking on Buds site and saw that they have rem 700 ss action bodies only for about $250 without a bolt. Is it worth going that route and adding a ptg one piece to get the better firing pin hole and a one piece bolt. I'm not a big fan of the m16 style extractors just because I prefer the ejection angle of a standard rem and the way it clears the windage knob better. Looks like you can get the ptg with a rem style extractor.

Figure $250 for the action and maybe about the same for the ptg bolt puts it at $500. I can have it trued for about $150. That puts me a little under a stiller but still needing a pin assembly, lug, maybe an extractor. Is the answer just go custom? I like my stillers but I'm tired of trying to tune the ejection to clear my windage knobs so I've been building some rifles just for hunting on remingtons lately.

Is it worth just running a rem with a ptg. What am I missing cost wise?
