I really enjoyed the history of your rifle. Boy, the original owner had quite the life! I've bought over a hundred firearms in the last 40+ years and can count on one hand the brand new ones I bought. I've wondered about the history of more than a few I have or had. An old-timer once told me long ago he would always remove the butt plate of any used guns he got, said sometimes guys would put stuff under there assuming it was a stock that had a bolt hole for dis-assembly. Sure enough, I went home and started removing butt plates from my guns. and on an old single shot shotgun, I found two hunting licenses from the '30s from same dude. Ya never know.
