After years of wanting one, I finally got a .35 Remington barrel for my Contender carbine. I called up JD Jones at SSK and was told they only had one barrel with the correct sized hole through it, a stainless one. I asked to have it chambered to the .35 Rem, cut to 18" and given a matte finish. Also asked for a T'SOB mount and rings.

After a two week wait the barrel arrived. The Burris 2x7 was clamped in the rings, a few patches were pushed through the bore and 30 cartridges loaded. Off to the range...

First off were some older handloads normally used in my Super14 barrel, BTW headspace was virtually identical in both barrels. Once I got on paper at 100 yards the 150 CoreLokts at ~2500 fps grouped around 1.5". Then the 200RN Hornadys over 44.0 grains of Leverevolution. Imagine my surprise (and pleasure) when four groups averaged under 1". The best group - 1/2". I'm going to really enjoy this little rifle!
