Took the 1951 Savage M99EG to the range Saturday to see how it shoots and get it sighted in. Accuracy with Remington and Winchester 150s was ok, but nothing to write home about. Then I tried Federal 180s and shot back to back 4-shot groups each inside an inch! Now this was only at 50 yards, but open sights are getting REALLY hard for me to use. I need to mount a good aperture sight. With that I could come close to that same performance at 100 yards. I'm going to work up Mule Deer's 165/RL15 load this summer. Good stuff.
