RL 15 built up a good reputation for accuracy and decent velocity. Then RL 17 came around and folks were getting highest velocities ever heard and then ensued endless discussion of exceeding pressure, blah blah blah. But it can still be as accurate at RL 15 is.

I've personally pushed 270 grains over 2800 ft/s and 300 grains over 2600 ft/s with RL 17 with what may have been too high of pressure, but I don't really know. The bolt turn came just as easy as it did with midrange loads. I can say that RL 17 tends to be more accurate with fuller cases and RL 15 is still accurate with less than max loads.
