Yes, if you want to try the 6.5mm bore, Howa 1500s in 6.5 Creedmoor, short action, and 6.5x55, long action, are currently the least expensive vehicle with which to do so. Plus, Whittaker's $330.00 price is the lowest than I've seen anywhere.
The "problem", it might not be a problem for you, but it is for me, is that the stocks kinda suck and although Howa 1500s are popular, there aren't nearly as many reasonably priced after-market stocks, both new and used, on the market as there are for Remington 700s and Savage 110s.
