Do you know if this was factory drilled for a tang sight or was a second hole added? Do you have any more pictures?

I bought the rifle several years ago from the son of the original owner. He said his dad owned it the entire time and added the sourdough sight, removed the rear sight and put the tang sight on. His dad bought it after coming home from WWII and he got it after his dad passed away. So, unfortunately, I cannot tell you if the factory did the work or it was done later and no records exist for that time period to determine that.
