This is a winchester 70 I purchased a few years ago. Was re-barreled in the 50's to a 22-06. I shot probably 100 rounds through it, and it shot fine.A friend talked me out of it, and he took it to a gunsmith for re-barreling to a 35 Whelen. After unscrewing the barrel, they informed him of the reciever being cracked.Honestly dont know if they did it or was already there. Tryed to show in the picture, but hard to see. It is a hairline crack at 12.00 oclock and runs to the front base screw hole. Can this be fixed, or just part the gun out. I've already had an offer on the stock, not cut for a pad but barrel channel hogged out.
Which he would have just left it alone, was kinda unique!
