Why do you say no one cares? A lost or stolen firearm is a big deal to any agency.
Just because that reporter didn't mention the problems an officer gets into for losing, or allowing a firearm to be stolen through carelessness, doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

Having a law that requires a LE agency to log and report lost or stolen firearms is another "feel good" law.

I would be willing to bet a steak dinner that every one of those guns is entered into NCIC as a stolen gun. What other database would you have them entered into and why?

I agree that LE folks leaving department firearms where they are subject to being stolen should be held accountable. It is much easier to hold cops accountable for that that behavior because their livelihood can depend on it.

If we do that for cops, what shall we do for the non-LE folks who are careless with their firearms storage?
