You are going to enjoy that rifle. Don't let that tang sight get in the way of your learning how to shoot it.
That tang sight won't bother me in the least! I have owned everything from 45-70 - 50-140 so it will be a long ways from being the first rifle I have owned to have one. In fact, it may even get upgraded.
