It's a good thing you didn't buy that D&T'd 250. I don't buy Bubbaed rifles now that I know better. The D&T probably made it worth about half the asking price.
The catalogs didn't carry the 99R until about 1950. I think they were produced earlier. I have one made in 1950 that is factory D&T'd. It's the earliest post WWII 99R I've seen but it is possible that they were produced earlier and were D&T'd. The 99F was introduced about late 1954/early 1955 and was D&T'd. This is probably when factory D&T'd EG's started appearing. Incidentally there are a few EG's that have the Savage 99 marking on the left side of the receiver that are not factory D&T'd. Go figure.
