Back when I Was still working at the shop, Old man came in one day with this rifle. Had a Bell&Carlson black comp stock and an old Redfield 3x9 Tracker scope. Wanted to have
It cleaned. Then he got on conversation of selling it.

He said his dad brought it home after war. That it was some 6.5 ctg they couldn't get ammo for. So he "sent" it to Winchester and had a 30/06 bbl installed. I explained that Winchester probably didn't do the work, but whoever did, did it right. And I went on to say "too bad you don't have original Stock and other stuff". He answered he did! And wondered if he sold rifle he should bring everything in. I stated why not!

So he sold shop rifle. And brought all the extra stuff up to us in smithing. Old stock had a rifinish on it and a thin pachmayer pad. But he had all the old Stuff ! Stock buttplate clawmounts etc. So I ended up buying the whole thing. Barrel dated 1957. I stuck it back to original as best I could. And one slow day I stuck that Lyman 48 on it. Best I can tell
It some Variant of Oberndorf "B".
