Finally got warm and dry enough to check on the bees. Both hives had bees out doing cleansing flights so I gave it a go.

The hives seem to be doing well. Full of bees. One of the hives was doing well enough have several of them fly off the top bars and do some veil bumping. Still a little cool, so I didn't stay long to see if there was any new eggs or brood. I'm running an 8-frame deep and a medium on each. Clusters were about 5-6 frames going well into the bottom deep. Given the amount of bees and that their supposed to be carnis, I think their both queen right.

I put candy boards on each last November both as reserve and to help with moisture They've both eaten about half of it. Didn't want to pull frames, but both the mediums seemed heavy.

Don't think I need to feed much more unless it ends up being a cold wet Spring. Will check on them again the next time it's warm and clear. Hopefully in mid-March.

Only a few more weeks until the Big Leaf Maples start to bloom!
