The 835 uses an overbore barrel. The 535 uses a standard 12 ga barrel. The 835 will pattern 3.5" shells better.

*If* you are going to shoot 3.5s, then get an 835. If you're not going to shoot 3.5s, get a 500. Shorter, lighter , cheaper.
