Dad bought one around '03 or '04. He had a heck of a time locating a lefty and finally called Winchester about it. He was told they only made left handed .375s every other year, to the tune of about 200-300 rifles. I'd say you're spot on figuring $1000. He sold his a couple years ago in excellent condition for that amount. Both parties thought it was a fair price.
