Brad, sticking with the 338 Fed. New barrel is not necessary, but something to play with. Existing one shot a few things exceptionally well, most reasonably well and a couple exceptionally poorly, or at least inconsistently. I've found I pick this rifle for everything so why not give it nice match barrel. If the plan works it will shoot 180 Accubonds well in the low 2800s.

Weights are good to know. According to the Pac-Nor calculator the 22" factory .338 barrel should be 1lb 11oz. That seems reasonably accurate, possibly an ounce or so lighter than reality. New barrel should be between 2 and 3 ounces heavier. That will put me at 6lb or just a tick over.
