"The Warden" pulled our daughter out of the public school system a couple of years after we moved back. In 2 years, she fell 2 years behind her schoolmates. Boy, did the "educators" pitch a fit - turned out (back then) the schools lost $9000 per student, IIRC. All they wanted was the $.
After being home-schooled for 1 year, Janet went back - and was as much as 5 levels above her school-mates, and at least 2!
Joy said the lessons took all of about 2 hours a day, on average. Educators, my azz!
Mark - your experience, along with Joy's decision and efforts, ring so true. In the early 70s we (mostly my wife) did this with our three younger daughters - wonderful outcomes and lifetime rewards. And, the public schools back then were nowhere near as as weak as they are now, and what is now a wholesale "indoctrination program" was just getting started back then.
