My understanding of the US Constitution is that to be eligible for election to the VP office, a citizen must be eligible so serve as POTUS. Having already served 2 full terms (8 yrs) Barack Obama is ineligible to serve as POTUS. Therefore, he is disqualified to be elected as VP.

I believe you may be thinking of the specific case when a serving VP succeeds to the Presidency with less than 2 years remaining in the succeeded POTUS’ term. In that case, the serving VP who ascends to the Presidency can serve for the total of a first term and then be elected to an additional 2 terms of his own.

I am not a Consitituional lawyer, so this interpretation may be off the mark.

I think that has happened before. So you are on the mark by my estimation
