back in the end of Gulf war I, people were on Bush SR's behind for not removing saddam from power. Carter stuck up for bush, saying leave saddam in power, he also stuck up for saddam in someways (not totaly), having some real knowledge of how the world really works over there.
carter at that time was questioned on the possiblity that saddam will continue to make more WMD including possible nukes. carter's answer was saddam will not do it.
then gulf war II come up, carter says stay out of there, there is no reason for this war at this time.
plus carter knew that Iran was worse, and saddam would help balance out the power there, like he did in the past.
Carter was very correct.........................
