Are you sure about that? I have a VariX-IIc and it has friction adjustments, and I don't believe anything lower than a III got clicks until the change from Vari-X to VX.
See? I wouldn't be surprised if you have such a critter--Leupy was changing things frequently from the mid 90's/early 2000's
But all the Vari-X IIc's I've seen have click adjustments ( I have one)
