Apparently the 6.5" barrel brings a slight premium in price vs 6", even though more of dash twos were made with that length. In 1979 the 6.5" barrel was dropped completely, in favor of the 6" barrel. That must be why it brings a slight premium over the 6" barrel. I believe the gun used by Dirty Harry was a 6.5" barrel one.
Two guns were built and used for the movie Dirty Harry.
One was a 6.5" and the other is an 8 3/8". Which is used throughout the film was dependent on the director and how he wanted the shot to look.
