Was thinking that way for awhile, even as far as buying a take-off 99F .308 barrel. When I shelved it I bought a Kimber Montana in .308 to replace, and I really like it. Also traded into a pristine 99F in 300 Sav, which I think is a better combination anyway. End result - lost interest in the .308, rather use the 300. Not a collector, just an appreciator and user.
