My grandson lives in Old Metairie. His Dad is a high priced tax lawyer, has his own firm at age 40, but knows nothing about guns.

The boy was at a friend's camp across Lake Pontchartrain, and got to shoot a .22 rifle. He did really well and now he wants a rifle.

His Dad would accept a pellet rifle before a .22 and the boy could shoot it more than a .22, probably could shoot in his back yard if it was pretty quiet. I'm thinking a pellet gun would be better than a BB gun, probably safer due to bounce back.

What gun would you guy recommend in such a scenario? Probably needs a shorter LOP, like 12" or so. High end accuracy not a major issue, but quality enough to learn to shoot well.
