Brian Litz wrote an article on scaling BC and in theory .277 is the sweet spot but sadly the bullet makers are focused on .264 & .284. So there is the bullet issue.

Brass is a big issue. Nosler isn’t supporting their own cartridge and it is pretty much dead to Nosler. Peterson made a run of brass but there will never be support from the other boutique brass makers!

I would build another 27-300W but I understand the urge to fiddle with stuff. I would get a twist of 1-8. I am using 1-9 in my 270W’s. Have had three and have had good results.


Got a link to that article, by chance? I tried to Google-fu to no avail. I’d like to read it. I just put a 1x8” pipe on my 270 Win with the intention of making usage of the newer heavyweights that are coming out. Thx.
