Those older ones have the metal fire control unit, not polymer. I think parts would more than cover that cost.

I know, now I'm kicking myself in the azz!! My new 10/22 clone has the dang plastic trigger housing. Not that it's bad, it has just never seemed right, since I'm used to the aluminum trigger housing on my 10/22's. The plastic one just seems cheap, but it works. I'll eventually replace it with a metal one. Those dang things sell for about $85 on ebay right now. Was watching one a few days ago, that sold for over $90.00!! So, yes buying a complete rifle would have been the way to go. I could have sold the parts, and used the parts I needed off of it. Kept the receiver for a later build.
