That ain’t good for certain. The early model .308 I had was quite accurate, comparable to a lot of bolt actions, but got javelined into something solid on its way home from the recall and while not visibly damaged, accuracy fell way off. I sent it back and they replaced the barrel, but it never was as good as before. I have a .357 now, which is accurate for what it is, and it definitely prefers to be shot with the bag under the frame and rear of the forend, like a lever action. Makes a big difference.

I suggest you contact Henry and see if they won’t take a look at yours. Their CS is very good.
