Anything that uses dovetails would be last on my list unless you have scope mounting holes drilled improperly and need adjustable rings to get the scope lined up with the barrel.

Keep the rail. Unless you're putting a 3 lb scope on a heavy recoiling rifle you don't need anything special. The Weaver 4X4 rings are as good as anything else. I have Leupold Rifleman rings on several rifles. Burris rings are reasonable priced and work too.
