Nowadays, they make them with the seam running down the crack to make the leggings tighter and make it appear as if they are in shape. Much to some folks surprise, when they are peeled off, it's just engineered flab. This being third party information of course.
When I was coming up, the popular thing to make it look like they had a nice ass were the zipper pants that were easy to get undone, but pretty much impossible for them to get zipped up when the door was being banged on and you were halfway out the window, trying not to fall off the roof.
