That would be a shame, because nickels are actually worth more than $.10 based upon the nickel and copper content. It’s the last currency that has not been debased. Save your nickels. Better to use post-82 pennies or post-65 dimes or quarters.
When the SHTF, I doubt that nickels will get you much, but you could drill a little hole near the edge and make a pretty good fishing sinker with one.
