The 7 PRC seems to not live up to the velocity claims by Hornady. Looking at reloading manuals they are showing the ~ velocities that Hornady says. For those who have reloaded for it can you get the claimed velocities with a 24" barrel?
Apologize not 7PRC but Hornady does tend to exaggerate on velocity claims....
Example: Hornady claims their 204 Ruger ammo with 32gr V-Max will shoot 4225fps
not close with several rifle's even with a 26" barrel
