30 years ago I used Norma 130 grain VLDs in my 6.5/06, and they worked just fine@ 3200 or so (molycoated)

Then 129 Interlocks, 156 Norma Oryx and 123 SST out of a 260. All of them were entirely adequate - I think it's more about where you put them than the bullet itself, but I used a 22.250 for years and that tends to help you realise that there is no replacement for accuracy.

Nowadays I'm using 143 Norma Bondstrike in a 6.5 SAUM at 2950, and they are very good. I haven't shot anything past 600m with it yet, but so far I'm happy.
