Gene, ya, good observation. I thought my sight was buggered as well when I looked at it when I took the pics because as you can see the locking spring is in front of the sight for it to lock forwards.
If you look at an S1 (Savage 99) Marbles tang sight the locking spring is on the back of it to lock it towards the rear of the bolt.
Your tang sight is maxed right out to get it at the right level. I know it's not for a 70 though. The one I pictured is down all the way and is about as high as yours without lifting the stem any.
I hit my buddy up for a V7 (Stevens 425) tang today but he didn't have one, would have been a neat one to have.
