I have not killed any elk with either the .270, 30.06 or the 300WSM, but in a way I have because I've killed some good bulls with the .280AI and a 30-338. I like the smaller 280AI(a glorified .270) because I can't see any difference in killing power between it and the larger 30-338. Shoot them where they live with a good bullet and down they go. Twenty-thirty grains of bullet weight one way or the other or 200fps of muzzle velocity makes no difference. Shoot them in the right place and down they go, it's just that simple.
