I was having some feeding problems with the tube on my recently purchased pre-safety 1894 in 44 Mag, so I stripped it down and found that someone who had owned it prior to me completely F$%^&ed up the magazine tube. Including drilling a second hole for the barrel band when they couldn't get it to seat into the receiver properly.

Joy of joys, to add to the problem, upon reassembly, I discovered that the forearm has a crack running the full length right down the middle, which I completely separated. Two piece forearm.

I guess its going off to the smith. I have a small fund set aside for a new rifle after new year, but now I am thinking about putting it into this rifle and making it something to be really proud of.

If you were going to "slick up" and 1894 in 44 mag, what would you do?
