Wade, 22 mag is expensive for a couple of reason: The volume of production is miniscule when compared to 22lr. Supply and demand. the componants to 22mag are only similar to 22 lr. the bullet diameter is slightly greater than 22lr.That is why a 22lr will shoot in a cylinder chambered for lr in a gun that also has a mag chamber but not conversly as in 22shrt, lng lr. will shoot in the same rifle or hand gun designed to feed these rounds. And lastly the price is high because the manufactures can get it.<BR>I suggust you look into the 22 hornet if you want a good small 22 with a bit more punch than a lr.
