Great thread here... Really enjoy reading about others shooting 45 bores. My brother (Arky Jack on some forums, passed away Christmas 2008)and I were/am 45-70 lovers. I have three-two Marlin 1895s and a replica Sharps. Use cast bullets almost exclusively and shoot silhouette steel a lot. Been to Africa, but on a Navy Carrier so no DG hunting for me. The Lyman 457124 is my choice for most shooting. For the levers I blunt the RN just a little. They shoot three shots overlapping in all my guns. Do the job on big pigs and deer. Wish I were 60 again and I'd still hunt Montana but those days are gone. My advise is hunt all you can, while you can. Poor vision, old injuries and diabetes may get to you too, one day. So have fun and take lots of pictures for that's all you'll have left when your body is worn out.
