Depends on the terrian where you hunt...I have used the 165 gr. Hornady and Nosler partition on elk in my Sav. 99 .308, when I am hunting horseback in the open sage sidehills and they worked fine..

If I am hunting my favoriet haunt in the really thick black timber in the Selway, I want my 338 with 300 gr. PP Woodleighs as all shots are going away from you or looking at you over thier shoulder..The 338 really lays them down with a 300 gr. Woodleigh and they do not go to the bottom of a drainage and cause me all that grief..
